ROHI UPDATE

"Since I can remember, I have always had a strong passion and desire in my heart to go to Africa. I never fully understood why so I pushed it into the back of my mind. I ran from God for many years and this dream faded until Mitch presented the possibility of me going this year. I couldn’t believe God had orchestrated this and all I needed to do was pray about it and say yes to the call. What I was able to experience and have God reveal to me on the trip changed my life forever.

The trip itself was so full of rich experiences, service and spiritual growth. We were able to spend time at Rohi, the school for children who had been rescued from the streets of Kenya. Our team was able to bless the school with testimonies, worship and quality time with the Rohi staff and students.

We were also able to visit the Hilton dump area where we got to meet the people of that community and deliver buckets of food to the people who lived there. We were able to pray for them through translators and freely give the love of Christ. We traveled to Pokoot, which was about a four hour drive to where we showed the Jesus film for two nights, and many hearts were changed for Christ. We also were able to set up water tanks for surrounding areas. One of the amazing things too was being able to hand out bibles in the Pokoot language to people who had never had a Bible before.

One of the ministries that we were able to visit that was very dear to my heart was Street Church. We visited this ministry after Sunday worship at Rohi. This was a place where the Word of God was brought to children who are living on the streets and who were addicted to glue and/or other forms of drugs. The rehabilitation center that was linked to street church has been shut down. There is a great need for there to be a place where the children can get clean from the bondage of addiction. God revealed to me when I was sitting on the floor of street church that this is something that New Harvest should be involved with.

Upon returning home, I shared this vision with Mitch and presented to the mission team the opportunity for partnering with Street Church and re-opening the rehabilitation center. Through prayer and God centered discussion, New Harvest is moving forward. To God be the glory. There will be many opportunities in the future to get involved with this. God is opening doors in Kenya and I cannot wait to see how He will work amongst the New Harvest family!!"
