Premarital Couples
Weddings are for a day; marriage is for a lifetime!
Marriage is perhaps the most complex of human relationships. The process of joining two people in a relationship which is intended to last for a lifetime can involve great effort. Unfortunately, too often couples are not equipped to deal with the challenges they face in marriage.
Recent U.S. government statistics indicate the divorce rate in the United States is at a historic high. It is now estimated that over half of all first marriages will end in divorce. The average marriage lasted less than seven years, and nearly two out of ten marriages end before the third anniversary.
These findings suggest that a significant proportion of married couples experience serious marital conflicts early in their relationships. It also indicates that few engaged couples successfully anticipate the conflicts they will encounter in their marital relationships.
That is why New Harvest requests that all couples married by our Pastoral staff receive premarital counseling. Our desire is that your marriage will last a lifetime; therefore we have trained couples that are ready to walk with couples through their engagement period and into their first year of marriage.
The materials used and resources recommended have proven success in preparing couples to understand the commitment and challenges of marriage and how to navigate through rough waters keeping their love intact.
“Married now for 13 years I am convinced that our premarital mentoring has been key in the strength and vitality of my marriage. We have struggles but we know how to work them out and are still best friends.”
